HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

WCFS is an organization which is based on the principles that all people require effective guidance and support. All people deserve this guidance and support regardless of their abilities, socio-economic situation, or mental state. Stemming from this belief WCFS has taken the responsibility of providing support through staffing, specialized consultation and educational workshops for both government and non-government organizations throughout Canada, and various parts of the world.

WCFS has been serving the children’s services sector for the last 6 years. WCFS has provided care and extensive support to:

At WCFS our associates are trained in the following professions:

  1. Early Childhood Education

TRAVELING CARE GIVER PROGRAM:
At WCFS we recognize the essence of family cohesion; therefore we offer various benefits to the corporate sector which help the corporate employee/manager alleviate the stresses of missing out on family time while traveling as he/she conducts important business ventures.
Some of these benefits are including but not limited to monitoring, supervising and ensuring the safety of children while the employees/managers are out conducting business for the organization.
All activities have been modified to meet the age and development level of the child.
The pre-mentioned services and activities are developed and implemented by a professional caregiver who travels with the individual who is involved in business away from home.

LOCAL CHILD CARE PROGRAM:
At WCFS we strongly believe that our society’s children require safety/security, supervision, and stimulation by trained professionals; therefore we offer a UNIQUE SUPPORT SYSTEM for the corporate sector in order to meet the above criteria.

These services are as follows:

  1. Child care program for all conferences and seminars, and business functions.
  2. Specialized child care program for business guests, arriving from out of town.
  3. Child care benefit for all personnel .This service has been designed for all families to have access to professional service (COUNSELLING, PARENT SUPPORT, AND ACADEMIC SUPPORT) throughout the G.T.A
  4. Specific programs for children diagnosed with neurological disorders.

The above services are developed and implemented by members of the WCFS Team of Professionals.

BENEFITS OF ENGAGING IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH WCFS

Employees:
WCFS clients will notice that employees will be performing their duties at an enhanced standard, as they have access to various child care programs that we offer. They can also interact with their families at home or away from home while on a business trip. Your employees will experience less stress as they will rest assured that they don’t need to decide between work and family time as both are equally important.

Families:
The families of your employees will benefit through knowing that when one of the members of the family unit needs to travel on a business venture it doesn’t necessarily equate to lost quality time. Research suggests that added quality family time equals more cohesion, which in turn results in a more functional relationship among husband – wife, and children – parents.

Management:
On a management level you will notice direct results of the WCFS Traveling Caregiver Program. Your management team will not only be traveling but they will be traveling because they want to, and when your management team is genuinely content with traveling for business purposes, the positive energy will transfer onto potential clients/customers. This positive energy of your team directly impacts on the monetary gains that will be inserted into your company, on a universal scale. Your company will be competitive in the hiring process through offering extended benefit packages that most other competitors may not have access to. This employee benefit will encourage other professionals who are currently not employed by your organization to become involved in providing their expertise to your organization.

STATISTICS

Two-Parent Family, Both Parents Work

  • 1976 = 27.4%
  • 1981 = 36.8%
  • 1986 = 44.3%
  • 1991 = 47.0%
  • 1996 = 49.5%
  • 2001 = 53.1%
  1. Approximately 60% of women with children under 3 years of age were working in the paid labour force in 2001 – up from 40% in the early 1980’s.
  2. Overall research has found that children with mothers who work outside the home are not at any disadvantage in terms of developmental outcomes. Parents are increasingly aware of the importance of promoting the early development of their children. As a result, despite increased demands in the workplace, working Canadian parents significantly increased the amount of direct care (physical care, playing and traveling time)and their overall contact time with children aged 5 and younger between 1986-1998.
  3. A recent review concluded that quality child care can reduce the negative impact on child development of a stressed, disadvantaged home life, regardless of a family’s income level. This review concluded that the use or non-use of child care is not the issue, rather the key factor is the quality of the child care.
The above statistics illustrate the lack of time spent with a family has grown throughout the years and the trend continues in the same direction. In addition the above information outlines some of the possible disadvantages of overlooking quality child care as a priority, not only for the family but for society as a whole.

CONCLUSION:
You will notice that working with WCFS, your employees will be more likely to perform at an optimal level, as our support system will allow them to spend more time within their families which results in more cohesion and positive interactions.
